In honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday and Reading Awareness month, St. Mary Child Care Center proudly presents our 2nd annual “Read Across SMCCC” event! Beginning Monday, March 4th through Friday, March 8th, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters and teachers from all classrooms are encouraged to participate by reading stories to children in our center. This center-wide activity increases reading awareness while creating an opportunity for children to actively engage as they explore the fundamentals of reading. Look for a sign-up sheet to be posted in each classroom prior to March 1st. Feel free to bring in a family favorite to read to the class or ask a teacher for a “class” favorite instead. All age appropriate books are acceptable. Each guest reader can read ONE book per day. Keep track of your child’s classroom progress by watching our Dr. Seuss display at the front desk and look for each classroom’s fish bowl to fill! On Monday March 11th , classrooms will tally up the total amount of books read and the room with the most will receive free items from Scholastic in addition to a Little Caesar pizza lunch. Thank you for your continued support as we strive to make a difference and enhance your child’s love of reading.
